Title: A Common Thread 6
Medium: acrylic and pastel on loose canvas
Size: 4.5 x 4.5, framed to 5 x 5
This mixed media abstract series explores the idea that humans have more in common than we are different. We all need to connect - we all yearn for love and affection and feel pain and grief. My mom taught me to cross-stitch when I was around 5 or 6 years old so I thought hand stitching into my paintings was the perfect way to symbolize the idea of "a common thread" we all share.
This series was created with acrylic painted on loose canvas where certain areas are embellished with hand stitches. You'll also notice my complimentary signature pastel markings in the background. I especially love how the frayed canvas edges are showcased in these sleek frames. This piece would make a nice conversation piece on any side table, desk, or bookshelf. And I know it could also make a sweet gift for a family member or friend with whom you share a common thread.
